sinceit’s been almost a month since i left for italy, this will be my last post on my fantastic trip. i loved the food, art, history, museums, and scenery but those things stay in italy - i can’t take them back with me. but one thing that stuck is italy’s fashion. while the only item i actually bought was a bright yellow handbag from carpisa’s summer 2012 collection (still have yet to use it!), italian fashion has inspired me.
from window shopping and browsing through stores like max mara, i gathered that italy’s designs are much simpler and cleaner than those in american fashion. i look for modern, slimming silhouettes, and i often have difficulty finding clothes that i like. however, i found the clothes in italy to be much more attractive to me.
my wardrobe consists of a lot of bright and neon colors. i feel like people in new york tend to wear a lot of black or at least dark and muted colors. but in italy, so many stores were featuring bright, bright colors like poppy orange - one of my new favorites! additionally, there were a lot of floral prints. perhaps the bright color and floral trend comes from the abundance of colorful flowers in italy. i really liked blumarine and blugirl as they really embraced this aesthetic.
lastly, as a very historic country, ancient rome is a constant reminder. i’m kind of obsessed with one-shouldered dressed with a toga influence. i tried on an emilio pucci one-shouldered yellow gown from their resort 2012 collection that i absolutely loved. unfortunately, i didn’t have an occasion to justify purchasing it.
